Montes de Toledo (EU Protected Area)

Part of Herencia's municipal territory falls within the Site of Community Importance (SCI) and Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) of the Montes de Toledo. This territory is classified as a Critical Area for the Spanish imperial eagle and the Iberian lynx, two of the most iconic and endangered species on the Iberian Peninsula. The hills of Herencia — Sierra de los Molinos, Sierra de la Sevillana — connect with this first-class natural space.
