Herencia is part of the Don Quixote Route, the cultural itinerary following the footsteps of the knight-errant across La Mancha, connecting towns such as Puerto Lápice, Campo de Criptana, Alcázar de San Juan, and Consuegra. Herencia's windmills, bearing their Cervantine names, are an essential stop on this literary journey, recognised by UNESCO as a European Cultural Itinerary.
